Simple Beef Steak with Black Pepper Sauce
Ingredients:
For the Steak:
- 4 oz beef steak
- 1 clove garlic
- Vegetable oil
- Butter
- Black pepper
For the Sauce:
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 shallots (preferably use onion)
- 2 tablespoons chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt, to taste
- Water, as needed
Instructions:
1. Marinate the Steak:
- Season the beef steak with salt and black pepper. Add a small amount of vegetable oil to help the seasoning penetrate the meat. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors infuse.
2. Prepare the Sauce:
- Finely chop the garlic and shallots (or onion). Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little vegetable oil. Sauté the garlic and shallots until they become fragrant and translucent.
- Stir in the chili sauce, oyster sauce, and teriyaki sauce. Add soy sauce, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and let the sauce simmer. Gradually add water as needed to achieve your desired consistency.
- Once the sauce is boiling, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of water to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the sauce to thicken it. Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce has reached the desired thickness.
3. Cook the Steak:
- Smash the garlic clove and add it to a hot non-stick pan with a little vegetable oil and butter. Let the garlic infuse the oil for a minute or so.
- Add the marinated beef steak to the pan. Cook the steak to your preferred level of doneness, turning it as needed to ensure even cooking.
- Once cooked, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
4. Serve:
- Slice the steak and serve it with the black pepper sauce drizzled on top. Enjoy your delicious and simple beef steak with a savory black pepper sauce!
