Hot Beef Burger / Salisbury Steak

Ingredients:

  • 300 grams ground beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 10 small red chilies
  • 75 ml plain milk
  • 3 slices of bread, crusts removed
  • 7 drops of seasoning sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon beef stock powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • Aluminum foil
  • Margarine or butter for frying
  • Optional garnishes:
    • Melting cheese or mozzarella
    • Bread rolls
    • Lettuce
    • Red tomatoes
    • Chili sauce & tomato sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread Mixture: Tear the bread into small pieces and mix it with the milk until you form a thick, liquid bread mixture. Add the beaten egg to this mixture and stir well to combine. Then, incorporate all the seasonings: salt, seasoning sauce, beef stock powder, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until evenly distributed.

  2. Prepare the Vegetables: Finely chop the onion, garlic, and red chilies. Add these to the meat mixture and stir until all ingredients are well combined.

  3. Shape the Patties: Form the meat mixture into round patties or any shape you prefer. Place them on a sheet of aluminum foil. Prepare your steamer while the patties are being shaped.

  4. Steam the Patties: Steam the patties for 15 minutes. After steaming, allow them to cool without opening the foil. Once cooled, place the patties in the freezer. If you plan to eat them immediately, freeze for 20 minutes. This step is optional but helps in maintaining the patties’ juiciness and texture. You can also store these patties in the freezer for future use.

  5. Cook the Patties: Heat margarine or butter in a pan over medium heat. Cook the patties until the bottom is browned. Flip them over and sprinkle grated melting cheese or shredded mozzarella on top. Reduce the heat and cover the pan to melt the cheese thoroughly.

  6. Prepare the Bread and Garnishes: While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the bread rolls if you’re using them. Wash and slice the lettuce and tomatoes according to your preference.

  7. Assemble and Serve: Arrange all the prepared ingredients on a serving plate. Serve the hot beef patties with your choice of chili sauce, tomato sauce, or any of your favorite sauces.

Tips:

  • Bread in the Mixture: The bread helps to bind the meat mixture. If you prefer, you can substitute the bread with breadcrumbs, or even crushed biscuits or crackers without flavor.
  • Freezing the Patties: Freezing the patties helps to solidify the fat and juices in the meat, resulting in a juicier final product. However, you can skip this step if you’re in a hurry, though the texture might be slightly different.

Enjoy crafting your delicious Hot Beef Burgers or Salisbury Steaks! Whether you serve them as a classic burger or a hearty steak dish, this recipe is sure to impress. Happy cooking!
