Sapi Lada Hitam: Savory Black Pepper Beef Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces beef (cut into small cubes)
  • 2 pieces tofu (cut into cubes)
  • Mushrooms (quantity as desired)
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • 5 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 stalks green onions (chopped)
  • 3 large red chilies (sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Cornstarch (for coating tofu)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Begin by cutting the tofu into bite-sized cubes. Coat each piece in cornstarch and heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu until golden and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  2. Cook the Beef and Vegetables: In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the minced garlic until it becomes aromatic. Add the sliced mushrooms and beef cubes to the pan. Stir-fry until the beef is browned and the mushrooms are tender.

  3. Add Seasonings: Sprinkle the black pepper over the beef and mushroom mixture. Pour in the sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, and soy sauce. Season with salt to taste. Stir well to combine and let it cook for a few minutes, adding a splash of water if the mixture appears too dry.

  4. Incorporate Vegetables: Add the sliced red chilies, chopped green onions, and sliced onion to the pan. Continue to stir-fry until the vegetables are tender and the onions are translucent.

  5. Combine Tofu: Gently fold the fried tofu into the beef and vegetable mixture. Stir until everything is well combined and heated through.

  6. Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy this savory black pepper beef stir-fry with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes.
