Ingredients:

  • 300 grams beef (cut into thick slices suitable for stir-frying)
  • 2 stalks green onions (cut into 4 cm long strips)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 shallots (sliced thinly)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Marinade:
    • 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
    • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
    • A pinch of salt
    • A pinch of black pepper
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Dipping Sauce:
    • Juice of 1 lemon
    • Salt to taste
    • Black pepper to taste
    • A pinch of finely chopped fresh coriander
    • Red chili slices (optional, for a spicy kick)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade:

    • In a bowl, combine dark soy sauce, fish sauce, granulated sugar, salt, black pepper, and vegetable oil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Marinate the Beef:

    • Place the beef slices, green onions, and half of the minced garlic into a mixing bowl.
    • Pour the marinade over the beef and vegetables. Mix thoroughly to ensure the beef is evenly coated.
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Prepare the Dipping Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, combine the lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and finely chopped fresh coriander. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
    • Add red chili slices if desired for extra heat. Set the dipping sauce aside and keep it chilled until ready to serve.
  4. Stir-Fry the Beef:

    • Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef along with the marinade to the hot pan.
    • Stir-fry for about 1 minute, turning the beef frequently to ensure it cooks evenly.
  5. Add Aromatics:

    • Add the butter, remaining minced garlic, and sliced shallots to the pan.
    • Continue to stir-fry for an additional minute, or until the shallots are tender and the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.
  6. Serve:

    • Transfer the stir-fried beef to a serving plate and garnish with finely chopped fresh coriander.
    • Serve the dish with the prepared dipping sauce on the side.

Enjoy this delicious Vietnamese-style beef stir-fry with steamed rice or noodles for a complete and satisfying meal. The combination of savory beef and tangy dipping sauce makes this dish a standout favorite!
