Beef Teriyaki HokBen: A Savory Delight

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams of thinly sliced beef
  • 3 tablespoons Tai Hua teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with Tai Hua teriyaki sauce, sweet soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, allowing the flavors to meld.
  2. Prepare the Aromatics:

    • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion, crushed garlic, and crushed ginger. Sauté until fragrant and the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Cook the Beef:

    • Add the marinated beef to the skillet with the aromatics. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the beef starts to brown and becomes tender.
  4. Add Liquid and Season:

    • Pour in the water and season with black pepper and salt to taste. Continue to cook for approximately 2 minutes, or until the sauce starts to simmer and thicken slightly.
  5. Garnish and Serve:

    • Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve the Beef Teriyaki HokBen hot, alongside steaming white rice for a complete meal.

Enjoy this flavorful dish that brings together the perfect balance of sweet and savory, ideal for a quick and satisfying dinner!
