Telur Ceplok Bumbu Kecap Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 shallots
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 small red chili peppers (cabe rawit setan)
  • 2 curly red chili peppers (cabe merah keriting)
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (kecap asin)
  • Water, as needed
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon margarine (for sautéing)
  • 1 stalk green onion (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Eggs: Fry the eggs as you normally would. For a family-friendly version, you can season the eggs with salt and pepper. If your children prefer, you can also add garlic powder for extra flavor.

  2. Slice the Aromatics: Thinly slice the shallots, garlic, and both types of chili peppers.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: Heat the vegetable oil and margarine in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots, garlic, and chili peppers. Sauté until the shallots become translucent and the garlic and chilies are fragrant and softened.

  4. Add Sauces and Adjust Consistency: Pour in the sweet soy sauce and soy sauce. Add a small amount of water to achieve your desired consistency. Since this dish is intended for a lunchbox, add just enough water to slightly thin the sauce without making it too watery.

  5. Season to Taste: Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary. You may add a bit more salt or sugar to balance the flavors, but the base taste should already be quite satisfying.

  6. Combine with Eggs: Gently place the fried eggs into the pan with the sauce. Stir to coat the eggs evenly with the sauce and let it simmer briefly to allow the flavors to meld together.

  7. Finish and Serve: If using, add the chopped green onion for a fresh touch. Give everything a final stir, then turn off the heat.

  8. Enjoy: Serve the telur ceplok bumbu kecap warm. Despite the dim photo, trust that the taste is delightful and well worth trying!

This simple and flavorful dish is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner, bringing a taste of Indonesian cuisine to your table.
