Sweet and Spicy Tahu Telor with Carrots and Green Beans

Ingredients:

  • 2 large eggs
  • Firm tofu, cut into small cubes (amount as desired)
  • Chicken fillet, cut into small pieces (amount as desired)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 6 small red chilies, sliced thinly
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 shallots, minced
  • 1 medium tomato, diced and seeds removed
  • Sweet soy sauce, to taste
  • Hot sauce, to taste
  • Oyster sauce, to taste
  • Sweet and sour sauce, to taste
  • Soy sauce, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • Cornstarch, mixed with water to create a slurry (as needed)

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Tofu and Chicken:

    • Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
    • In the same pan, fry the chicken pieces until cooked through and lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Egg Mixture:

    • In a bowl, beat the eggs and add the chopped green onions, sliced red chilies, minced garlic, minced shallots, and black pepper. Mix well.
    • Heat a non-stick pan with a bit of oil, pour in the egg mixture, and cook until golden brown. Remove and cut into strips.
  3. Sauté the Aromatics:

    • In a separate pan, heat a little oil and sauté the chopped onion, minced garlic, and minced shallots until fragrant and translucent.
  4. Combine and Cook:

    • Add the diced tomato to the pan with the sautéed aromatics. Stir in the chicken, sauces (sweet soy sauce, hot sauce, oyster sauce, sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce), sugar, salt, carrots, and green beans. Stir well to combine.
    • Add enough water to cover the mixture and bring to a boil. Let it simmer until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Thicken the Sauce:

    • Once the vegetables are cooked, add the cornstarch slurry to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens.
  6. Final Assembly:

    • Gently fold the fried tofu cubes and the cooked egg strips into the sauce. Allow everything to heat through for a few minutes.
  7. Serve:

    • Transfer the dish to a serving plate and enjoy your Sweet and Spicy Tahu Telor with Carrots and Green Beans!
