Tahu Kuah Merah Recipe

Ingredients

Firm tofu 6 pieces, medium size
Green onion To taste, sliced diagonally
Tomatoes 1-2, chopped
Bird’s eye chili 2-3, whole
Cornstarch As needed
Red chilies 3, blended
Shallots 6, finely chopped
Garlic 1 clove, minced

Sugar To taste
Water As needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Cut the tofu into cubes and fry until golden brown. Set aside.
  2. Make the Spice Mixture: In a mortar and pestle, blend together the shallots, garlic, and red chilies until smooth. Sauté the mixture in a pan until fragrant, adding the whole bird’s eye chili for extra heat.

  4. Combine Ingredients: Gently add the fried tofu to the sauce. Season with salt, sugar, and adjust according to taste.
