Tumis Tahu Kacang Panjang

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Long beans (Kacang Panjang) 1/2 pound (about 200g)
Firm tofu 5 blocks
Garlic 5 cloves
Shallots 3 pieces
Bird’s eye chili (Cabe Rawit) 3 pieces
Salt To taste
Soy sauce (Kecap) To taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by cutting the long beans into 2 cm pieces and washing them thoroughly. Next, cut the tofu into 2 cm cubes and set aside.

  2. Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove and set aside.

  3. Make the Spice Paste: In a blender or mortar, grind the shallots and garlic until smooth. Slice the bird’s eye chilies and add them to the mixture.

  4. Sauté the Spice Mixture: In the same pan, add a little more oil if necessary, and sauté the ground spices over medium heat until fragrant.

  5. Cook the Long Beans: Add the long beans to the pan, along with enough water to steam them lightly.

  6. Combine Ingredients: Once the long beans are halfway cooked, gently fold in the fried tofu and allow everything to simmer until the water evaporates.

  7. Season to Taste: Adjust the flavors by adding salt and soy sauce. Stir well and cook for another minute to ensure all ingredients are well combined.

  8. Serve: Once the dish is cooked through, remove from heat and serve hot, garnished with additional sliced chili if desired.
