Tumis Tempe Kuah: A Flavorful Tempe Stir-Fry in Savory Broth

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Tempe (cut into cubes) 1 piece (approximately 7 cm wide)
Tomato 1 large
Garlic 2 cloves
Curly chili peppers 2 pieces
Bay leaves 2 leaves
Water To taste
Salt To taste
Broth (chicken or vegetable) To taste

Instructions

  1. Begin by chopping all the seasoning ingredients: finely dice the garlic, slice the curly chili peppers, and cut the tomato into wedges. Cube the tempe into bite-sized pieces.

  2. In a skillet or frying pan, heat a splash of oil over medium heat and sauté the garlic, chili peppers, and bay leaves until fragrant, ensuring the spices release their essential oils.

  3. Add the cubed tempe to the skillet, stirring to combine with the sautéed ingredients. Cook until the tempe is slightly golden.

  4. Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients, then season with salt and broth to your liking. Gently fold in the tomato wedges.

  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, allowing the tomatoes to soften and release their juices, creating a rich and savory broth.

  6. Once the tomatoes are cooked through and the flavors have melded beautifully, remove from heat. Serve the Tumis Tempe Kuah hot, perfect as a comforting dish alongside steamed rice.

Enjoy the delightful fusion of flavors that makes this dish a beloved choice for a cozy meal!
