Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fish: Rinse the fresh gurami fish and rub it with lime juice to eliminate any fishy odor. Afterward, place it in the refrigerator to marinate.

  2. Make the Spice Paste: In a blender, combine garlic, shallots, bird’s eye chili, red chili, ginger, turmeric, and coriander, blending until smooth.

  3. Sauté the Spices: Heat some cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the spice paste until fragrant. Add the bay leaves and kaffir lime leaves, cooking for an additional minute. Stir in the sweet soy sauce and melted margarine, mixing thoroughly.

  4. Prepare for Baking: Remove the marinated fish from the refrigerator, rinse again, and place it on a baking tray that has been greased with margarine. Generously coat the fish with the sautéed spice mixture.

  5. Bake the Fish: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the fish for 30 minutes or until fully cooked, adjusting the time based on your specific oven.

  6. Serve: Once cooked, remove from the oven, let it rest briefly, and serve. Enjoy your delicious Ikan Gurami Bakar!
