Made with gram flour (besan) and green peas, it’s a great way to incorporate protein into your diet. This simple recipe packs flavor and is light yet filling, ideal for those who love wholesome vegetarian meals.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 cup Green peas (Matar)
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 2 Green chilies, finely chopped
  • A small piece of Ginger
  • 1/4 cup Coriander (Dhania) leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ajwain (Carom seeds)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fennel seeds (Saunf), powdered
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sesame seeds (Til seeds)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • A pinch of Garam masala powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • Water, as required

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 2-3 servings

Instructions:

  1. Start by making a paste with the green peas, garlic, onion, ginger, coriander leaves, and a little water using a mixer or blender.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the gram flour (besan), the green pea paste, fennel seeds powder, sesame seeds, ajwain, salt, red chili powder, and garam masala powder. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Gradually add water as needed to form a smooth batter with a pancake-like consistency.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa and grease it lightly with oil. Pour the batter onto the hot skillet and spread it out in a circular shape, similar to how you would make a dosa.
  5. Drizzle a little oil around the edges of the cheela and cook on medium heat until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once cooked, remove from the skillet and serve hot with Dhaniya Pudina Chutney or any chutney of your choice.
