For the Meatballs:
- 1 kg fresh beef, frozen
- 500 grams tapioca starch
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
For the Broth:
- Beef broth (from the meatball cooking liquid)
- 6 cloves garlic
- 6 shallots
- 3 tablespoons fried shallots
- Celery leaves
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Beef seasoning
- Ginger
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Beef:
Begin by finely grinding the frozen beef. You can use a meat grinder or a food processor to achieve a smooth texture. -
Make the Meatball Mixture:
In a bowl, combine the ground beef with minced garlic, black pepper, and tapioca starch. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Add salt and baking powder to the mixture. The mixture may be slightly sticky, which is normal. -
Form and Cook the Meatballs:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and season with salt. Using your hands or a meatball mold, shape the beef mixture into meatballs of your desired size. Gently drop the meatballs into the boiling water. Cook until the meatballs float to the surface and are cooked through. If desired, you can also fill the meatballs with minced beef and chili for extra flavor. Remove the cooked meatballs and set aside. -
Prepare the Broth:
In the same pot used for the meatballs, prepare the broth. If needed, strain the broth to remove any impurities. In a separate pan, sauté minced garlic, shallots, and ginger until fragrant. Add this mixture to the strained broth. Season with black pepper and beef seasoning to taste. Bring to a boil and let it simmer. -
Serve:
Once the broth is ready, add the cooked meatballs to the pot and allow them to heat through. Serve the Bakso Sapi with cooked corn noodles, fried shallots, fresh vegetables, bean sprouts, and celery leaves for a delightful and authentic Indonesian meal.
Enjoy this flavorful and comforting Bakso Sapi as a hearty meal that brings the taste of Indonesia right to your table!
