Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
-
Prepare a well-greased 7-1/2 cup pudding bowl or large pie plate.
-
Layer the blueberries and blackberries in the bottom of the bowl, then sprinkle half of the white sugar over the berries.
-
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Using your fingertips or two knives, blend the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in just enough milk to form a soft dough.
-
Evenly distribute the dough over the berries in the pudding bowl.
-
Cover the pudding bowl with greased foil or greaseproof paper, folded in a pleat across the middle to allow for expansion.
-
Place the pudding bowl in the oven and cook (steam) for 1-1/2 hours, or until the topping is golden brown and the berries are bubbling.
-
Carefully remove the pudding from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
-
Turn the pudding out onto a serving dish.
-
Serve warm, topped with cream or your favorite dessert sauce.
