Steamed Bafauri (Bhojpuri Style Steamed Chana Dal Balls)

The chana dal is soaked, ground to a paste, and seasoned with garlic, green chillies, ajwain (carom seeds), and fresh coriander. Itβs then steamed, not fried, making it a nutritious, high-protein snack option. Enjoy it with a refreshing Dhaniya Pudina Chutney, Khajur Imli Chutney, and a cup of Ginger Cardamom Chai for a perfect evening snack!

Ingredients:
- 1-1/2 cups Chana dal (Bengal Gram Dal), soaked for 3-4 hours
- 1 Onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 2 Green Chillies, adjust to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon Ajwain (Carom Seeds)
- A small bunch of Coriander (Dhania) Leaves, finely chopped
- Salt, to taste

Instructions:
- Wash and soak the chana dal for 3-4 hours in plenty of water.
- After soaking, drain the water and grind the chana dal into a smooth paste using a mixer grinder. Transfer it to a mixing bowl.
- Use a pestle and mortar to roughly pound the garlic and green chillies. Add them to the ground chana dal mixture.
- Add the chopped onion, coriander leaves, ajwain, and salt to the chana dal mixture. Mix everything well.
- Bring water to a rolling boil in a steamer pot.
- Grease the steamer attachment plate, then shape the chana dal mixture into small round balls. Place these balls on the greased plate.
- Steam the chana dal balls for 20 minutes, or until they are well-cooked and firm.
- Once done, switch off the heat and carefully remove the balls into a serving bowl.
Serve the Steamed Bafauri with Dhaniya Pudina Chutney, Khajur Imli Chutney, and Ginger Cardamom Chai for a delightful snack experience.
