Black Pepper Beef with Enoki Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 1 package thinly sliced beef (boiled and then sliced)
  • 1 bundle enoki mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed and finely chopped
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 red chilies, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced (or to taste; add more tomatoes if preferred)
  • Barbecue sauce (enough to coat the beef)
  • 6 teaspoons black pepper sauce (adjust to taste)
  • Water, as needed
  • Olive oil, for cooking
  • Optional: a pinch of sugar (for a touch of sweetness, as preferred) and black pepper for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef:

    • Coat the thinly sliced beef with barbecue sauce and grill or sear in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until cooked through and slightly caramelized. Set aside on a plate.
  2. Prepare the Enoki Mushrooms:

    • Lightly grill or sauté the enoki mushrooms in the same skillet or a separate pan until they are tender but still slightly crispy. Arrange the grilled mushrooms alongside the beef on the plate.
  3. Make the Sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add a splash of olive oil and sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant and translucent.
    • Add the black pepper sauce and a little water to achieve your desired sauce consistency. Stir to combine and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  4. Add Vegetables:

    • Incorporate the sliced bell pepper, tomatoes, and red chilies into the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  5. Combine and Serve:

    • Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and enoki mushrooms on the plate.
    • If desired, add a pinch of sugar to balance the flavors and sprinkle with black pepper for extra seasoning.
  6. Optional Garnish:

    • For a touch of extra flavor, garnish with additional black pepper and serve immediately.
