Description: These Castle Burger Bites are a delightful discovery from the Pillsbury Appetizer Cookbook, perfect for any casual gathering. Both kids and adults will relish these tiny, flavorful burger bites that pack a punch in every bite.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/8 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare Dough: Unwrap the dough and separate it into 12 breadsticks.

  3. Cut Breadsticks: Take each breadstick and cut it into 4 pieces. Place these pieces on an ungreased cookie sheet.

  4. Bake Breadsticks: Pop the cookie sheet into the preheated oven and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10 to 12 minutes or until the breadsticks are lightly browned.

  5. Cool: Once baked, immediately remove the breadsticks from the cookie sheet and transfer them to wire racks. Let them cool for about 5 minutes, or until slightly cooled.

  6. Prepare Miniature Buns: Split each breadstick piece in half, ensuring to keep the tops and bottoms together. This will form miniature burger buns.

  7. Lower Oven Temperature: Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).

  8. Prepare Burger Mixture: In a medium bowl, beat the egg. Add in the finely chopped onion, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir in the breadcrumbs until well combined. Then add the ground beef and mix thoroughly.

  9. Bake Burger Mixture: Press the ground beef mixture into a thin, even layer in the bottom of an ungreased 13×9 inch pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 14 to 16 minutes or until the meat is thoroughly cooked.

  10. Cut into Rectangles: Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and cut the beef into 48 rectangles. You can achieve this by cutting 8 strips crosswise and 6 strips lengthwise.

  11. Assemble Burger Bites: Fill each miniature bun with a rectangle of the cooked ground beef mixture.

  12. Serve: Place the ketchup in a small bowl for dipping sauce. Serve the Castle Burger Bites immediately and watch them disappear!
