Ingredients:

  • 16 slices French bread
  • 8 oz fat-free cream cheese, sliced
  • 3 cups skim milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

Step Description
1 Preparation: Spray a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with vegetable spray.
2 Layer Bread: Arrange 10 slices of French bread in the bottom of the prepared pan, cutting them to fit if necessary.
3 Add Cream Cheese: Place the sliced fat-free cream cheese evenly over the bread slices.
4 Layer Bread Again: Top the cream cheese with the remaining French bread slices.
5 Prepare Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together skim milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup, and cinnamon until well combined.
6 Soak Bread: Pour the custard mixture over the bread, ensuring that all pieces are thoroughly coated.
7 Refrigerate: Cover the baking pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or for at least 8 hours.
8 Bring to Room Temperature: Remove the pan from the refrigerator and let it stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before baking.
9 Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
10 Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until all the liquid is absorbed and the French bread is set in the center.
11 Prevent Browning: If the French bread begins to brown too much, cover it with a piece of aluminum foil during baking.
12 Serve: Once baked, cut the French toast into 12 pieces and serve warm with raspberry syrup for a delightful touch.
