Paprika Pork Loin Steaks

Category: Main Dishes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Pork loin 600g
Sweet paprika 5g
White wine 120ml
All-purpose flour as needed
Garlic 1 clove
Extra virgin olive oil as needed
Fresh thyme 4 sprigs
Water 120g
Potatoes 1kg
Salt as needed
Black pepper as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes
Start by washing and cutting the potatoes into wedges. Depending on their size, divide them into 4 to 6 pieces each. In a mixing bowl, season with salt, pepper, garlic (crushed), and thyme leaves. Toss everything well to coat evenly, then transfer the potatoes into a baking dish.

  2. Bake the Potatoes
Preheat your oven to 200°C (static heat). Place the dish in the middle rack of the oven and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden and crispy on the outside, tender inside.

  3. Prepare the Pork Loin Steaks
While the potatoes are baking, prepare the pork loin steaks. Lightly flour the pork slices to give them a crisp exterior during cooking.

  4. Cook the Pork
In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil over medium-high heat. Add one crushed garlic clove and 5 sprigs of fresh thyme to infuse the oil with flavor. Let the garlic and thyme sizzle for a couple of minutes, allowing the aromas to develop.

  5. Sear the Pork Steaks
Add the floured pork steaks to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute per side, or until golden and crisp. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan, so cook in batches if necessary.

  6. Deglaze and Flavor
Once the pork is seared, pour in the white wine to deglaze the pan, scraping any flavorful bits from the bottom. Allow the wine to evaporate, leaving behind a flavorful base for the sauce.

  7. Make the Paprika Sauce
In a small bowl, mix the sweet paprika with a little water to form a smooth sauce. Pour this paprika sauce into the skillet, stirring to combine with the cooking juices. Let everything simmer together until the sauce thickens and the pork is beautifully coated in the creamy paprika sauce.

  8. Final Touches
Taste the sauce and adjust with additional salt or pepper, if desired. The pork should have a creamy and rich coating. By this time, your potatoes will also be ready.

  9. Serve
Once everything is cooked, remove the potatoes from the oven and plate them alongside the paprika-coated pork steaks. Garnish with extra thyme or herbs of your choice for a fresh finishing touch.

This Paprika Pork Loin Steaks with crispy roasted potatoes is a delightful and comforting dish, ideal for a family meal or a cozy dinner. The tender pork paired with the creamy paprika sauce and crispy potatoes makes for a mouthwatering combination that is sure to impress your guests. Enjoy this simple yet flavorful dish on your next dinner table!
