Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken breast fillet
  • 1 egg
  • Sajiku flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • Sauce:
    • 1 garlic clove, minced
    • 1/4 onion, finely chopped
    • Indofood extra spicy sauce
    • Saori oyster sauce
    • Salt, to taste
    • Sugar, to taste
    • Water, as needed
    • Cornstarch, dissolved in a small amount of water
  • Additions:
    • Carrots
    • Potatoes

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Start by boiling the chicken breast fillet until fully cooked. Once cooked, let it cool slightly before coating it.
    • Beat the egg in a bowl and dip the chicken breast into it, allowing excess to drip off.
    • Coat the egg-dipped chicken in Sajiku flour or all-purpose flour, making sure it is evenly covered.
    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the coated chicken until it turns golden brown and crispy. Once done, remove from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  2. Make the Sauce:

    • In a separate pan, heat a small amount of oil over low heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
    • Add water to the pan, enough to make the sauce base, and let it come to a gentle simmer.
    • Stir in the Indofood extra spicy sauce and Saori oyster sauce.
    • Add the finely chopped onion, sugar, and salt to taste. Mix well and adjust the seasoning as needed.
    • Gradually add the dissolved cornstarch to the sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Let it simmer for a few minutes, then turn off the heat.
  3. Prepare the Additions:

    • While the sauce is cooking, peel and chop the carrots and potatoes.
    • Boil the carrots until tender, then drain and set aside.
    • Peel and cut the potatoes into bite-sized pieces, then fry them in oil until crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve:

    • Arrange the crispy chicken steak on a serving plate. Spoon the prepared sauce over the top.
    • Garnish with boiled carrots and fried potatoes on the side.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious, homemade simple chicken steak!
