Crispy Tahu Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 package of white/yellow tofu (block)
- 1 package of crispy flour (Sajiku brand)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Water, as needed
- Black pepper, to taste
- Masako seasoning, to taste (optional)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Tofu: Cut the tofu into small, even cubes. Place the tofu in a bowl and immerse in water seasoned with minced garlic. Let the tofu soak for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
-
Prepare the Batter: In a separate bowl, combine the crispy flour with black pepper. If you prefer, add a pinch of Masako seasoning for extra flavor, adjusting according to your taste preferences. Gradually add water to the flour mixture, stirring until you achieve a batter consistency that is thick but not overly runny. The batter should coat the tofu well without being too thin, as this could affect the crispiness.
-
Coat the Tofu: Remove the tofu from the garlic water and drain off any excess moisture. Add the tofu cubes to the prepared batter, ensuring they are evenly coated. Mix gently to avoid breaking the tofu cubes.
-
Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu cubes in batches to avoid overcrowding, which can cause them to stick together. Cook until the tofu turns a golden brown and becomes crispy, about 3-5 minutes per batch.
-
Drain and Serve: Once crispy, transfer the tofu to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces such as soy sauce, mayonnaise, or Boncabe chili seasoning for an extra kick.
Enjoy your crispy tofu as a delicious snack or a crunchy addition to your meals!
