Crispy Ayam Popcorn Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams chicken breast, diced (not too small)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca flour or cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • A pinch of pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Optional: garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Rinse the chicken breast under running water and dice into bite-sized pieces. Season lightly with salt and gently massage. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Coating:

    • In a shallow bowl, combine all-purpose flour, tapioca flour (or cornstarch), salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using). Mix well to combine.
  3. Coat the Chicken:

    • Dip each piece of chicken into the flour mixture, making sure it’s well coated. Shake off any excess flour.
  4. Dip in Egg and Breadcrumbs:

    • Dip the flour-coated chicken into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
    • Roll the chicken in breadcrumbs until fully covered, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs to the chicken.
  5. Fry the Ayam Popcorn:

    • Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding, until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  6. Serve:

    • Once golden and cooked through, remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Enjoy:

    • Serve hot and crispy ayam popcorn immediately. It’s best enjoyed as a snack or appetizer when still warm and crispy.
