| Tempe (small blocks) | 2 pieces |
| Dry Batter | |
| All-purpose flour | 1 package (Prima) |
| All-purpose flour | 5 tablespoons |
| Salt | To taste |
| Turmeric powder | 1/4 teaspoon |
| Baking soda | A pinch (avoid excess) |
| Wet Batter | |
| All-purpose flour | 1 package (Prima) |
| All-purpose flour | 6 tablespoons |
| Garlic (mashed) | 2 cloves |
| Salt | To taste |
| Coriander powder | 1/4 teaspoon |
| Water | As needed |
| Oil (for frying) | As needed |
Instructions
- Prepare the Tempe: Slice the tempe thinly to ensure even cooking.
- Mix the Dry Batter: In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients (dry batter) thoroughly.
- Prepare the Wet Batter: In another bowl, mix the wet batter ingredients until well blended, ensuring a smooth consistency.
- Coat the Tempe: Dip the sliced tempe into the wet batter, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it with the dry batter, ensuring it’s evenly covered.
- Fry the Tempe: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated tempe pieces and fry until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- Serve: Once cooked, drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Enjoy your crispy fried tempe as a delightful accompaniment to nasi pecel or your favorite dishes.
Notes
- Be cautious with baking soda; too much can impart a bitter taste.
- This recipe is straightforward and perfect for a quick snack or side dish. Enjoy your cooking adventure!
