Crispy Fried Tempe (Tempe Goreng Tepung Renyah)

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Tempe (small blocks) 2 pieces
Dry Batter
All-purpose flour 1 package (Prima)
All-purpose flour 5 tablespoons
Salt To taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
Baking soda A pinch (avoid excess)
Wet Batter
All-purpose flour 1 package (Prima)
All-purpose flour 6 tablespoons
Garlic (mashed) 2 cloves
Salt To taste
Coriander powder 1/4 teaspoon
Water As needed
Oil (for frying) As needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempe: Slice the tempe thinly to ensure even cooking.
  2. Mix the Dry Batter: In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients (dry batter) thoroughly.
  3. Prepare the Wet Batter: In another bowl, mix the wet batter ingredients until well blended, ensuring a smooth consistency.
  4. Coat the Tempe: Dip the sliced tempe into the wet batter, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it with the dry batter, ensuring it’s evenly covered.
  5. Fry the Tempe: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated tempe pieces and fry until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  6. Serve: Once cooked, drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Enjoy your crispy fried tempe as a delightful accompaniment to nasi pecel or your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • Be cautious with baking soda; too much can impart a bitter taste.
  • This recipe is straightforward and perfect for a quick snack or side dish. Enjoy your cooking adventure!
