Crispy Masala Peanuts (Gujarati Sing Bhujia)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Raw Peanuts (Moongphali)
  • 2 tablespoons Gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander Powder (Dhania)
  • 2 pinches Chaat Masala Powder
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 2 pinches Black pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for frying

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the raw peanuts, gram flour, rice flour, red chilli powder, coriander powder, chaat masala, black pepper powder, oil, and salt.
  2. Add a little water and mix everything thoroughly, ensuring the flour and spices coat the peanuts evenly. Be careful not to add too much water.
  3. Heat oil in a wok (kadai) over medium heat.
  4. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop in the seasoned peanuts and fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  5. After frying, remove the peanuts from the oil and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  6. Although they might not seem very crispy when hot, the peanuts will become perfectly crunchy once they cool to room temperature.
  7. For extra flavor, sprinkle some chaat masala and dry mint on top.
  8. Serve the Crispy Masala Peanuts with a hot cup of Masala Chai during tea time, or enjoy them as a snack with drinks at your next house party.
