Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Accent seasoning (optional)
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 packages wonton wrappers (about 48 wrappers)
  • Water (for sealing the wrappers)
  • For the Sauce:
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 4 tablespoons cornstarch
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • 1/4 cup white vinegar
    • 1/4 cup ketchup

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, Accent seasoning (if using), finely chopped green onions, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. Assemble the Won Tons: Place a teaspoon of the beef mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Using your finger or a small brush, lightly wet the edges of the wrapper with water to help seal them.

  3. Form the Won Tons: Fold each wrapper in half to form a triangle. For a more secure seal, wet one corner along the long side of the triangle and bring both points of the long side together, pressing to seal. Ensure the filling is enclosed and the edges are firmly sealed.

  4. Fry the Won Tons: Heat oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry 8-10 won tons at a time, turning occasionally, for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  5. Drain and Season: Use a slotted spoon to transfer the won tons to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with a little salt while they are still hot.

  6. Prepare the Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, white vinegar, and ketchup. Stir well to combine. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil and thickens, about 2 minutes.

  7. Serve: Arrange the won tons on a serving platter and serve warm with the sauce on the side for dipping.

Enjoy your crispy, homemade won tons that are sure to be a hit at any gathering!
