Homemade Chicken Nuggets Recipe

Ingredients

  • 300 grams chicken fillet
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 50 ml water
  • 1 egg
  • 3 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons tapioca flour
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Breading Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 8 tablespoons water
  • Breadcrumbs as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken Mixture:

    • Start by cutting the chicken fillet into small pieces.
    • Place the chicken pieces, grated carrot, and water in a blender. Blend until you get a smooth mixture.
  2. Mixing the Ingredients:

    • Transfer the blended mixture to a large mixing bowl.
    • Add the egg, tapioca flour, all-purpose flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  3. Cooking the Nuggets:

    • Grease a loaf pan or a steaming tray with a little vegetable oil.
    • Pour the chicken mixture into the prepared pan and smooth out the top.
    • Steam the mixture for 45 minutes. You can use a traditional steamer or a steaming rack in a large pot.
    • Once cooked, remove from the steamer and allow it to cool completely.
  4. Cutting and Breading:

    • Once the steamed chicken mixture has cooled, remove it from the pan.
    • Cut the chicken mixture into nugget-sized pieces.
    • Prepare a breading station by mixing the 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour with the 8 tablespoons of water to create a smooth batter.
    • Dip each chicken nugget piece into the batter, then coat it with breadcrumbs. Ensure each piece is evenly coated.
  5. Freezing or Frying:

    • At this point, the chicken nuggets can be stored in the freezer for later use. Arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid, then transfer to a resealable freezer bag.
    • When ready to cook, deep fry the nuggets in hot oil until golden brown and crispy, approximately 3-5 minutes.
    • Alternatively, you can bake them in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and cooked through.
