Sempol Daging Sapi: Indonesian Beef Skewers

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of beef, finely minced
  • 150 grams of tapioca flour
  • 3 tablespoons of fried shallots
  • 2 bunches of green onions, finely sliced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of ground black pepper
  • 3 teaspoons of chicken stock powder
  • 2 teaspoons of salt (to taste)
  • 15 skewers

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef Mixture: Begin by finely mincing 250 grams of beef. Combine the minced beef with 150 grams of tapioca flour in a large mixing bowl. To this mixture, add 1 beaten egg, 2 teaspoons of ground black pepper, 2 teaspoons of salt (adjust to your taste), and 3 teaspoons of chicken stock powder for flavor.

  2. Incorporate Aromatics: Add 3 tablespoons of fried shallots and 2 bunches of finely sliced green onions to the beef mixture. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  3. Form the Skewers: Take small portions of the mixture and shape them onto the 15 skewers, forming elongated patties similar to satay. Press the mixture firmly onto the skewers to ensure they hold their shape during cooking.

  4. Boil the Skewers: Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Gently place the skewers into the boiling water and cook for approximately 10 minutes, or until the skewers are cooked through. Once cooked, remove them from the water and let them drain.

  5. Prepare for Frying: In a separate bowl, beat the remaining egg and add a pinch of salt. Dip each boiled skewer into the egg mixture, ensuring they are well coated.

  6. Fry the Skewers: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the egg-coated skewers until they are golden brown and crispy.

  7. Serve: Once the Sempol Daging Sapi is crispy and cooked to perfection, remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Enjoy your homemade Sempol Daging Sapi as a delicious and savory treat!
