Batagor Ayam Recipe
Ingredients:
- 250 grams ground chicken
- 250 grams tapioca flour
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 shallots, finely minced
- 2 spring onions, thinly sliced
- 2 carrots, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
- Salt to taste
- Sugar to taste
- Optional: seasoning powder (such as Royco)
- 30 sheets of ready-to-use wonton wrappers
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, tapioca flour, egg, minced garlic, minced shallots, sliced spring onions, grated carrots, ground pepper, salt, sugar, and optional seasoning powder if using. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture becomes smooth.
-
Assemble the Batagor: Take one tablespoon of the chicken mixture and place it in the center of a wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper over the filling to form a small parcel, ensuring it is sealed well. Repeat this process until all the filling is used up.
-
Steam the Batagor: Arrange the filled wonton parcels on a steamer rack lined with parchment paper. Steam the batagor for about 20 minutes, or until they are fully cooked and firm to the touch.
-
Fry the Batagor: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet over medium heat. Carefully add the steamed batagor to the hot oil, frying them until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
-
Serve and Enjoy: Serve the crispy batagor hot with your choice of dipping sauce. For a quick and convenient option, you can use pre-made peanut sauce or pecel sauce for dipping.
Note: For added convenience, you can use store-bought pecel sauce as a dipping condiment for the batagor.
