Risoles Tahu Bakso Recipe: A Flavorful Indonesian Delight

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 4 pieces of white tofu
  • 6 meatballs (bakso)
  • 1/4 carrot
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 stalk of green onion
  • Salt and white pepper to taste

For the Risoles Skin:

  • 100 grams all-purpose flour
  • 250 ml full cream milk
  • 1 tablespoon margarine or butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 100 grams breadcrumbs

Instructions:

Prepare the Filling:

  1. Cook Ingredients: Begin by boiling the tofu and meatballs until cooked through.
  2. Prepare Vegetables: Finely chop the green onion and onion. Mash the tofu and grate the carrot.
  3. Mix Filling: Dice the meatballs into small pieces. In a mixing bowl, combine the tofu, meatballs, green onion, onion, and grated carrot. Mix well.
  4. Season: In a skillet, heat a little oil and sauté the mixture with salt and white pepper to taste until fragrant and slightly golden. Transfer to a bowl and let it cool.

Make the Risoles Skin:

  1. Prepare Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, full cream milk, and egg. Whisk thoroughly until smooth.
  2. Incorporate Margarine: Melt the margarine or butter and add it to the batter along with the salt. Mix well until everything is fully integrated.
  3. Cook the Skins: Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. If using a regular pan, brush it lightly with oil. Pour a small amount of batter into the pan and spread it out evenly. Cook for about 1 minute or until the edges start to lift, then flip and cook the other side. Remove from the pan and continue with the remaining batter.

Assemble the Risoles:

  1. Fill and Fold: Place a spoonful of the cooled filling onto each risoles skin. Fold the skin over the filling, sealing the edges securely.
  2. Coat: Dip each filled risoles in the leftover batter and then coat with breadcrumbs.
  3. Fry: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pan. Fry the risoles in batches until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Drain on paper towels.

Serve: Enjoy your homemade risoles as a delightful appetizer or snack. Perfect for gatherings or as a tasty treat any time of the day!

This recipe brings together the savory goodness of tofu and meatballs with a crispy, golden exterior, making for a delicious and satisfying treat. Whether you’re serving them at a party or enjoying them as a snack, these risoles are sure to be a hit!
