Mongolian Beef Recipe
Ingredients:
For Marinating:
- 500 grams lean beef, thinly sliced
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of baking soda
- Oil for frying
For the Sauce:
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 5 slices fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Garnish:
- Green onions, chopped
Instructions:
-
Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with the egg, cornstarch, soy sauce, salt, and baking soda. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated. Let it marinate for about 20 minutes.
-
Fry the Beef: Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan over high heat. Fry the marinated beef in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Cook until the beef pieces are golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
-
Prepare the Sauce: In the same pan, remove excess oil, leaving just a small amount. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
-
Make the Sauce: Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and granulated sugar to the pan. Stir well. Mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry, and add this to the pan to thicken the sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
-
Combine and Serve: Add the fried beef back into the pan, tossing to coat evenly with the sauce. Cook for a few minutes until everything is well combined and heated through. Stir in the chopped green onions just before serving.
Serve your Mongolian Beef hot over steamed rice or noodles for a delightful meal. Enjoy!
