Crispy Spicy Tofu Spring Rolls

Spicy Tofu Martabak

Ingredients:

  • 20 sheets of store-bought spring roll wrappers
  • 1 block Chinese tofu
  • A handful of green onions, chopped
  • 5 red bird’s eye chilies, chopped
  • Seasoning powder (to taste)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing the spring roll wrappers)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:

    • In a mixing bowl, crumble the tofu using a fork until it reaches a fine, mash-like consistency.
    • Add the chopped bird’s eye chilies, green onions, salt, and seasoning powder to the tofu. Mix thoroughly and adjust the seasoning to taste.
  2. Assemble the Martabak:

    • Lay out a sheet of spring roll wrapper on a clean surface.
    • Place a spoonful of the tofu mixture in the center of the wrapper.
    • Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling, then roll it up tightly, sealing the edges with a brush of beaten egg. Repeat this process until all the filling is used.
  3. Fry the Martabak:

    • Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
    • Fry the assembled martabaks in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
    • Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve:

    • Serve the spicy tofu martabak hot, and enjoy as a flavorful snack or appetizer!
