Spicy Tahu Martabak

Elevate your snack game with this Spicy Tahu Martabak, a savory and crispy delight that combines the rich flavors of tofu, chicken sausage, and aromatic spices, all enveloped in crispy spring roll wrappers. This recipe promises a deliciously crispy exterior with a flavorful, spicy filling that will have you coming back for more.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large Chinese tofu (pressed and drained)
  • 3 chicken sausages (sliced into small pieces)
  • 2 eggs
  • 30 sheets of spring roll wrappers
  • 1 bunch of green onions (chopped)
  • 4 cloves of red shallots (sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons of Bon Cabe (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu Filling: Begin by mashing the Chinese tofu using a fork until it reaches a crumbled consistency. This will serve as the base of your filling.

  2. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed tofu, sliced chicken sausages, chopped green onions, sliced red shallots, garlic powder, Bon Cabe, and chicken bouillon powder. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly distributed. Adjust the spice level by adding more Bon Cabe if desired.

  3. Check the Seasoning: Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning if needed. Ensure that the flavors are well balanced and to your liking.

  4. Assemble the Martabak: Lay a spring roll wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place a spoonful of the tofu mixture in the center of the wrapper. Fold the sides of the wrapper inwards, then fold the bottom up to enclose the filling, forming an envelope shape. Press the edges to seal the packet securely.

  5. Fry the Martabak: Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, gently place the prepared martabak into the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, approximately 2-3 minutes per side. To ensure the martabak does not absorb too much oil, avoid flipping it frequently. Turn only once during cooking to achieve an even, crisp exterior.

  6. Serve: Remove the martabak from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot and enjoy the crispy, spicy goodness of your homemade Spicy Tahu Martabak.

This recipe yields a delightful array of crispy, spicy bites that are perfect for snacking or as an appetizer. Enjoy the fusion of flavors and textures with every bite!
