Experience a delightful fusion of flavors with this simple yet delicious Tahu Walik recipe, featuring crispy fried tofu stuffed with savory chicken meatballs. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal, this dish combines the crispiness of tofu with the rich, tender texture of homemade chicken meatballs.

Ingredients

For the Chicken Meatballs:

  • 1/4 kg ground chicken
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons tapioca flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 50 ml ice water
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Salt, sugar, and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon mushroom seasoning (such as Totole)

For the Tofu:

  • 10 pieces of fried brown tofu

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, ice water, egg, tapioca flour, and baking powder. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  2. Season the Mixture:
Add garlic powder, salt, sugar, black pepper, and mushroom seasoning to the chicken mixture. Continue to mix until all seasonings are evenly distributed.

  3. Prepare the Tofu:
Slice each piece of fried tofu into two triangular shapes. Carefully turn them over and scoop out some of the tofu filling to create a cavity for the meatball mixture.

  4. Stuff the Tofu:
Spoon the prepared chicken meatball mixture into each tofu cavity, filling them generously.

  5. Fry the Tofu:
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently place the stuffed tofu pieces into the pan. Fry until the tofu is golden brown and the meatballs are cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.

  6. Serve and Enjoy:
Remove the tofu from the pan and drain on paper towels. Serve hot as a delicious snack or as part of a main meal.

This Tahu Walik with Chicken Meatballs is a delightful combination of crispy and savory, making it an ideal choice for a quick dinner or a tasty snack. Enjoy this simple yet flavorful dish that brings a touch of Indonesian cuisine to your table!
