Super Crispy and Soft Fried Tempe Recipe

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Tempe 2 blocks
All-purpose flour 8 tablespoons
Rice flour (Rose Brand) 2 tablespoons
Baking soda A pinch
Cold water 1 to 1.5 cups
Spice mix (salt, pepper, coriander, garlic) To taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the Tempe: Begin by thinly slicing the tempe into even pieces to ensure consistent frying.
  2. Prepare the Spice Mix: Using a mortar and pestle, grind the spices (salt, pepper, coriander, and garlic) until smooth.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, add the ground spices, then pour in the cold water and baking soda, mixing well.
  4. Add the Flours: Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour and rice flour into the mixture, stirring until the batter is well combined and slightly runny to achieve that ultimate crispiness.
  5. Fry the Tempe: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Carefully dip the sliced tempe into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off before placing it in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain and Serve: Once cooked, remove the tempe from the oil and let it drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Enjoy your super crispy and soft fried tempe as a delicious snack or side dish!

Note: Ensure that each tablespoon of flour used is slightly heaped for optimal crispiness. Enjoy!
