Instructions

Prepare Syrup:
- In a saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, coffee, Kahlua, and rum.
- Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and let it cool. Set aside.

Prepare Filling:
- Melt the chopped milk chocolate in a bowl over simmering water. Set aside to cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat mascarpone cheese until fluffy.
- In another bowl over simmering water, whisk together egg yolks and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar until warm and pale.
- Remove from heat and add to the mascarpone mixture.
- Mix in the cooled melted chocolate until well combined.

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
