Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).

  2. Prepare a 7 by 11 1/2 by 2-inch baking pan by greasing it with butter and lining it with parchment paper. Set aside.

  3. Melt the butter and bittersweet chocolate together in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Stir occasionally until smooth and combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  4. Sift the flour and baking powder together into a medium bowl. Set aside.

  5. Beat the eggs in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment until they become thick and creamy, about 5 minutes.

  6. Gradually add the light brown sugar to the eggs while continuing to beat. Beat until the mixture is thick and mousse-like, and a trail is left on the surface when the whisk is lifted, about 3 minutes more.

  7. Gradually fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg and sugar mixture, alternating with the dry ingredients (flour and baking powder). Be gentle to maintain the airiness.

  8. Fold in the pecan halves gently into the batter until evenly distributed.

  9. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly.

  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is cracked and the center is just firm to the touch. The brownies should not have a cake-like consistency; they should be dense and fudgy.

  11. Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan.

  12. Cut into squares while still in the pan before turning them out onto a board or serving platter.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve these Perfect Brownies as they are or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
  • Pair with a glass of cold milk or a hot cup of coffee for a delightful dessert experience.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter and chocolate mixture has cooled slightly before folding into the egg mixture to avoid cooking the eggs.
  • The pecans add a wonderful crunch to these brownies, but you can omit them if desired or substitute with walnuts or almonds.

Enjoy these Perfect Brownies for your next gathering or simply as a special treat at home. Their rich chocolate flavor and fudgy texture are sure to please everyone!
