Krengsengan Daging Sapi: A Super Simple Beef Delight

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kg beef, sliced
  • 1/2 onion, sliced lengthwise
  • For the spice blend:
    • 2 candlenuts
    • 5 cloves of garlic
    • 7 shallots
    • 7 red chilies
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • A thumb-sized piece of ginger
  • Salt, pepper, and sugar to taste
  • Enough water to simmer
  • Cooking oil for sautéing
  • Fried onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Spice Blend: Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the spice blend ingredients (candlenuts, garlic, shallots, and red chilies) until fragrant and golden brown.

  2. Cook the Beef: Add the sliced beef to the pan with the sautéed spices, ensuring it’s well-coated. Stir in salt, sugar, pepper, soy sauce, and enough water to cover the beef.
