Description:
What could be more festive than cookies at Christmas shaped like candy canes and sprinkled with crushed peppermint candy?! Another holiday tradition, these Candy Cane Cookies bring joy and sweetness to your holiday season.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1/2 cup Butter
1/2 cup Margarine
1 Shortening
1 Egg
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
1 Flour
2 1/2 cups Powdered sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 cup White sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Heat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the butter, margarine, shortening, powdered sugar, egg, and vanilla flavoring until smooth.
  3. Blend Flour: Gradually blend in the flour and salt until the mixture forms a smooth dough.
  4. Divide Dough: Split the dough in half. Add red food coloring to one half and mix until the color is evenly distributed.
  5. Shape Dough: Take one teaspoon of dough from each half and roll them into 4-inch ropes on a lightly floured surface. For smooth and even ropes, roll them back and forth on the floured board.
  6. Combine Ropes: Place the red and white ropes side by side, lightly press them together, and then twist them gently to create the candy cane effect. Complete each cookie one at a time.
  7. Bake: Arrange the shaped cookies on an ungreased baking sheet. Curve the top of each cookie down to form the handle of the candy cane. Bake in the preheated oven for about 9 minutes or until they are set and have a very light brown color.
  8. Prepare Topping: While the cookies are baking, mix the crushed candy with granulated sugar.
  9. Decorate: As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, sprinkle them with the candy mixture while they are still warm. Then, carefully remove them from the baking sheet to cool.

These delightful Candy Cane Cookies are perfect for sharing with loved ones during the holiday season. Enjoy the festive flavors and the joy they bring to your home! πŸŽ…πŸͺ
