Chinese Firecracker Nachos Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 8 oz corn tortilla chips
  • 8 oz muenster cheese, shredded
  • 4-5 large napa cabbage leaves, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Sesame oil, for cooking
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 tbsp chili garlic sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Firecracker Pork:

    • Heat sesame oil in a large saute pan or wok over medium heat.
    • Add minced ginger and stir-fry until softened, about 1 minute. Increase heat to high.
    • Add ground pork to the pan and stir in chili garlic sauce and hoisin sauce.
    • Cook, stirring and breaking up the pork, until it’s browned and any juices have started to evaporate.
    • Stir in toasted sesame seeds. Set aside. (This can be prepared up to a day ahead and refrigerated.)
  2. Assemble the Nachos:

    • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
    • Arrange corn tortilla chips on a large baking sheet or ovenproof platter.
    • Sprinkle shredded muenster cheese evenly over the chips.
    • Spoon the prepared Firecracker Pork mixture over the cheese.
  3. Bake the Nachos:

    • Place the nachos in the preheated oven and bake for 4 to 6 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Prepare the Cabbage Topping:

    • While the nachos are baking, toss thinly sliced napa cabbage leaves with rice vinegar in a bowl.
  5. Serve:

    • Remove the nachos from the oven.
    • Sprinkle green onions and the seasoned cabbage evenly over the hot nachos.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious fusion flavors of Chinese Firecracker Nachos!
