Ingredients:
- 1 piece of fresh ginger
- 10 cups of water
- 1 cup of sugar
Instructions:
Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | Place the ginger in a large, non-aluminum bowl. |
2 | Pour in 4 cups of water, cover, and let stand undisturbed for 48 hours. |
3 | Line a sieve with cheesecloth and place it over a saucepan. |
4 | Strain the ginger water through the sieve, then add the sugar to the saucepan. |
5 | Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. |
6 | Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the mixture, undisturbed, for 10 minutes. |
7 | Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the tea leaves. |
8 | Cover the saucepan and let the mixture steep for 5 minutes. |
9 | Strain the mixture into a large, heatproof pitcher. |
10 | Pour in the remaining 6 cups of water and stir well. |
11 | Cover the pitcher and refrigerate until well chilled. |
12 | Serve over cracked ice in tall glasses and enjoy! |
