Crispy Fried Tempeh Recipe

Ingredients:

Tempeh:

  • 1 block of tempeh

Batter Mix:

  • 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of French flour (or substitute with cornstarch for extra crispiness)
  • 1 packet of Sajiku multi-purpose seasoning mix
  • 1/2 tablespoon of finely ground chili paste
  • Water, as needed (to achieve a thick batter consistency)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tempeh:

    • Slice the block of tempeh into thin, bite-sized pieces to ensure even frying.
  2. Make the Batter:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, French flour (or cornstarch), Sajiku seasoning mix, and ground chili paste.
    • Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, stirring constantly, until you achieve a smooth and slightly thick batter.
  3. Coat the Tempeh:

    • Dip each slice of tempeh into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated with the mixture.
  4. Frying the Tempeh:

    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
    • Fry the coated tempeh slices in batches, turning occasionally, until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve:

    • Remove the fried tempeh from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
