Ingredients:
- 1 package of wonton wrappers
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/4 pound shrimp
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3-5 eggs
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 quart chicken broth
Instructions:
Steps | Description |
---|---|
1 | Bring a large kettle of water to boil, specifically for the won ton. |
2 | In another large pot, set the chicken broth to simmer over low heat. |
3 | It’s crucial not to place the cooked won ton directly into vigorously boiling broth, as it could damage them. |
4 | In a food processor, combine the ground pork, shrimp, salt, pepper, sesame oil, egg, and sugar until thoroughly mixed. |
5 | Lay out 8-10 wonton wrappers on a flat surface. |
6 | Spoon approximately 1 teaspoon of the won ton mixture onto each wrapper. |
7 | To ensure a good seal, lightly brush two edges of the wrapper with milk. |
8 | Fold each wrapper into a triangle and press the edges firmly to seal. |
9 | Drop the filled wontons into the boiling water and cook for 3 minutes. |
10 | Carefully remove the cooked won tons from the water using a sieve and transfer them into the simmering chicken broth. |
11 | Repeat the process in batches until all the won ton filling is used up. |
12 | If there’s any leftover filling, shape it into balls, boil them, and add them to the broth as meatballs. |
13 | For larger batches, maintain a ratio of approximately 2 parts pork to 1 part seafood. |
14 | If you prefer vegetables in your soup, feel free to add them according to your taste. |
15 | The total preparation and cooking time is approximately 30-40 minutes, as you’re alternating between preparing one batch and cooking the other. |
