Almond butter is a rich, creamy spread made from roasted almonds, perfect for spreading on bread, drizzling over oatmeal, or even adding to energy bars for a healthy snack. This easy-to-make recipe will have you enjoying a nutritious, homemade version of almond butter in just about an hour.

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Almonds (Badam) 1 cup
Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1 tablespoon

Preparation Time: 60 minutes

Total Time: 60 minutes
Servings: 4
Cuisine: Continental
Course: Vegan
Diet: Eggetarian

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Begin by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F) and let it warm for about 10 minutes.

  2. Roast the Almonds:
Spread the almonds evenly on a baking tray. Bake the almonds in the preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and fragrant.

Alternative Method: If you don’t have an oven, you can roast the almonds in a pan over low heat, stirring occasionally until they reach a golden brown color.

  3. Rest the Almonds:
Once the almonds are roasted, allow them to rest for about 2 minutes to cool slightly.

  4. Blend the Almonds:
Transfer the cooled almonds into a food processor. Add a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil to the almonds. Start processing the almonds on high speed. This step will take some time, so be patient!

After around 10-20 minutes, the almonds will first turn into a coarse powder and then gradually begin to form a thick paste as the oils are released.

  5. Final Blend:
Once the almond mixture has reached a smooth, creamy consistency, stop the processor. Your homemade almond butter is ready!

  6. Serve and Enjoy:
Serve the almond butter immediately with toasted whole wheat bread for a nutritious snack, or use it in recipes such as Almond Butter Energy Bars for an energy-boosting treat.

Tips:

  • Storage: Store the almond butter in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Flavor Enhancements: You can add a pinch of salt or a drizzle of honey for extra flavor, but the natural richness of almonds is satisfying on its own.

Enjoy your creamy, homemade almond butter as a versatile and healthy addition to your meals or snacks!
