Banana Liqueur Recipe

Category: Beverages
Servings: 1 (approximately 1 bottle)

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Bananas 600g
Pure Alcohol 500g
Sugar 300g
Whole Milk 300g
Heavy Cream 150g
Vanilla Pod 1

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bananas
Begin by peeling the bananas and slicing them into rounds. You’ll need about 350g of banana pulp. Once sliced, transfer the bananas into a clean glass jar. Add the pure alcohol to the jar, ensuring the fruit is fully immersed. Seal the jar tightly with a lid and let it sit at room temperature for one week. Remember to shake the jar gently every now and then to help the flavors combine.

  2. Strain the Banana Infusion
After the maceration period of one week, strain the liquid into a bowl to separate the fruit pulp. The liquid should now be infused with the rich banana flavor.

  3. Prepare the Creamy Mixture
Split the vanilla pod in half lengthwise and use the edge of a knife to scrape out the tiny seeds. Add these seeds into a saucepan along with the whole milk. Add the vanilla pod as well. Pour in the heavy cream and sugar, stirring to combine. Heat the mixture over low heat, but do not bring it to a boil. Stir constantly to dissolve the sugar completely into the milk and cream. Once fully combined and heated, remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.

  4. Combine and Bottle
Once the creamy mixture has cooled, add the banana-infused alcohol and stir well to combine. Carefully pour the final mixture into a bottle or jar, sealing it tightly.

  5. Storage & Serving
Store your banana liqueur in the refrigerator for best results. When serving, make sure to chill the liqueur and enjoy it cold. It’s a delightful treat on its own or as a fun addition to cocktails!

Tips for Success:

  • Be sure to shake the jar with the banana and alcohol mixture periodically to help the banana flavor infuse.
  • Use a good quality vanilla pod for the best flavor. The seeds and pod both contribute depth to the liqueur.
  • For a smoother texture, you can strain the liquid through a fine mesh sieve to remove any residual solids before bottling.

Enjoy your homemade banana liqueur as a sweet, creamy drink that’s perfect for any occasion!
