These crispy, honey-coated wheat curls are a delightful snack made from a soft dough of wheat flour, semolina, and coconut milk, shaped into curls, fried to golden perfection, and then sweetened with honey.

Cuisine: Goan
Course: Snack
Diet: Eggetarian

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/4 cup All Purpose Flour (Maida)
  • 1/2 cup Sooji (Semolina/Rava)
  • 2 tablespoons Caster Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Oil (for dough)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Whole Egg
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Milk
  • Oil (for deep frying)
  • Honey (for glazing)

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, semolina, caster sugar, oil, salt, egg, and coconut milk to form a soft dough.
  2. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  3. After resting, take small portions of dough and flatten them with a fork on the back of the utensil. Starting from one end, gently roll the dough to form a curl, ensuring the shape remains intact.
  4. After rolling, shape the dough further by gently rolling it with both palms to maintain the curl.
  5. Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying. Once hot, fry the dough curls in batches until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once fried, remove the curls and let them cool down.
  7. Drizzle honey over the cooled curls and toss them to coat evenly.
  8. Serve these delightful Goan Style Kulkuls as a party snack or as an after-school treat.

Enjoy these sweet, crispy delights, perfect for any occasion!
