Savory Stir-Fried Minced Beef with Stinky Beans (Daging Sapi Cincang Cah Petai)

Ingredients:

  • 150 grams minced beef
  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 stalk of stinky beans (petai)
  • 3 shallots, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 400 ml water
  • Salt, sugar, MSG, and black pepper to taste
  • Oyster sauce to taste
  • Sweet soy sauce to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of Blueband margarine

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Slice the potatoes thinly, but not too thinly, to prevent them from turning into chips. Set aside.
    • Peel and crush the garlic cloves. Slice the shallots finely.
  2. Cooking the Base:

    • Heat the Blueband margarine in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the sliced shallots and crushed garlic until fragrant.
  3. Adding the Beef:

    • Add the minced beef to the pan. Stir-fry briefly until the beef changes color.
  4. Incorporate the Stinky Beans:

    • Add the stinky beans to the pan and stir well. Pour in the water, then add sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, MSG, and black pepper. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  5. Cooking the Potatoes:

    • In a separate pan, fry the thinly sliced potatoes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  6. Combine and Simmer:

    • Add the fried potatoes to the beef mixture. Stir gently to combine. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the water reduces slightly and the flavors meld together.
  7. Final Touches:

    • Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning if needed. Remove from heat.
  8. Serve:
