Special Indonesian Omelette with Tuna and Tofu

This delicious and flavorful Indonesian omelette, known as Dadar Spesial Isi Tahu Tongkol, combines the savory goodness of tuna and tofu into a mouthwatering dish that’s perfect for any meal. Here’s how you can make this special omelette at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 block of Chinese tofu (firm tofu)
  • 1 piece of tuna fish (fresh or canned)
  • Green onions and additional fresh vegetables for garnish
  • Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu and Tuna:

    • Start by frying the tofu until it is half-cooked, then drain it on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
    • Next, fry the tuna fish until it becomes crispy and golden brown. Once done, drain it as well.
  2. Chop and Mix:

    • Finely chop both the fried tofu and tuna fish. You want the pieces to be small enough to mix well with the egg, but still substantial enough to add texture to the omelette.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped tofu and tuna. Pour in half of the beaten egg. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Cook the Omelette:

    • Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
    • Pour in the egg mixture, spreading it evenly in the pan. Cook until the omelette is golden and crispy on the outside, and the egg is fully cooked through.
    • Once cooked, carefully roll the omelette into a log shape.
  4. Serve and Garnish:

    • Slice the rolled omelette into bite-sized pieces or serve it whole, depending on your preference.
    • Garnish with chopped green onions and any additional fresh vegetables of your choice.
    • Accompany the dish with sambal (Indonesian chili sauce) for an extra kick, and serve with a side of fresh vegetables or salad.
  5. Enjoy:

    • Your Dadar Spesial Isi Tahu Tongkol is ready to be enjoyed! This omelette makes a hearty and satisfying meal that’s perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Feel free to adjust the seasoning and spice levels to your taste. This dish captures the essence of Indonesian cuisine with its harmonious blend of flavors and textures. Enjoy!
