🥄 Servings: 8

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
1 tsp Baking powder
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Unsalted butter
5 Eggs
1 1/3 cups Milk
1 can (14 oz) Sweetened condensed milk
1 can (12 oz) Evaporated milk
1 tbsp Rum
1 cup Heavy cream
1 tsp Vanilla extract
1 tsp Sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Lightly grease a square cake pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • Sift together the all-purpose flour and baking powder in a bowl.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar:

    • In another bowl, cream together 1 cup of sugar and the unsalted butter until the mixture is well blended and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla:

    • Add the eggs and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract to the sugar-butter mixture.
    • Beat until the mixture becomes foamy.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

    • Gently fold the sifted flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  6. Bake:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    • Allow the cake to cool completely.
  7. Prepare Tres Leche Mixture:

    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, regular milk, and rum until the mixture is well blended.
  8. Soak the Cake:

    • Once the cake has cooled, carefully poke holes all over the surface using a fork or toothpick.
    • Pour the prepared tres leche mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
    • Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the cake to absorb the milk mixture.
  9. Whip the Cream:

    • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until it begins to thicken.
    • Add 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
    • Continue whisking until stiff peaks form.
  10. Frost the Cake:

    • Remove the chilled cake from the refrigerator.
    • Spread the whipped cream over the top and sides of the cake, creating a smooth and even layer.
  11. Serve:

    • Cut the Mexican Tres Leche Cake into squares.
    • Serve chilled and enjoy the creamy, indulgent flavors of this delicious dessert!
