Description: These delicious Cinnamon Pretzels are a delightful treat that captures the essence of a soft, chewy snack, perfect for any occasion. As someone who doesn’t enjoy coffee, I prefer a plain glaze, but feel free to customize it to your taste. Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water, allowing it to activate for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in the nonfat dry milk solids, then beat in sugar, ⅓ cup of softened butter, salt, egg, and 2 cups of all-purpose flour until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  3. Gradually incorporate an additional 1 cup of flour, and let the dough rest for 15 minutes to enhance its texture.
  4. Sprinkle ½ cup of flour over the dough, then transfer it onto a lightly floured board and knead until it becomes smooth and satiny, adding flour only as necessary to prevent stickiness.
  5. Place the kneaded dough into an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled in size, which typically takes about 1 to 2 hours.
  6. Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a lightly floured board and roll it into a rectangle measuring approximately 12 by 14 inches.
  7. Spread half of the dough with 4 tablespoons of softened butter, ensuring even coverage.
  8. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and ground cinnamon, then sprinkle this mixture over the buttered area of the dough.
  9. Fold the unfilled half of the dough over the cinnamon filling and press the edges together firmly to seal.
  10. Cut the folded dough into 12 equal strips and roll each strip into a smooth strand measuring about 20 inches in length.
  11. Twist each strand into a pretzel shape, placing them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow them to rise until doubled in size once again.
  12. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the pretzels for 10 to 13 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  13. While the pretzels are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with butter or margarine and enough coffee (if desired) to achieve a smooth but not overly thin icing.
  14. Once baked, brush the hot pretzels with the prepared glaze to create a deliciously sweet finish that melts over them.

Enjoy your warm, homemade Cinnamon Pretzels with or without coffee, and savor the delightful combination of flavors!
