Semur Daging Sapi Giling ala Mama Valen
Ingredients
- 500 grams ground beef
- 5 hard-boiled eggs
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1/2 large onion
- 5 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (kecap asin)
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 300 ml water
- Sugar, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Preparation Steps
- Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with the all-purpose flour. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until well combined, then shape the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
- Sauté the Aromatics: Finely chop the garlic and thinly slice the onion. Heat a bit of oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and onion, sautéing until they become fragrant and the onion turns translucent.
- Create the Sauce: Add the sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) and regular soy sauce (kecap asin) to the pan. Stir well and allow the mixture to come to a boil. Once boiling, add the water, stirring to combine. Let the sauce return to a gentle boil.
- Cook the Meatballs and Eggs: Carefully add the meatballs and hard-boiled eggs to the simmering sauce. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan. Let the meatballs cook in the sauce until they are fully cooked through, about 20-25 minutes.
- Season to Taste: Once the meatballs are cooked, taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed with additional sugar, salt, and pepper to suit your taste preferences.
- Serve: Serve the semur daging sapi giling hot, with steamed rice on the side for a complete and satisfying meal.
Enjoy the rich, savory flavors of this traditional Indonesian dish, lovingly prepared with a touch of Mama Valen’s special care.
